Transforming Information into Intelligent Traffic
and Transportation Services

Why attend the Lakeside Conference 2010?
Every year, improvements are being made to intelligent traffic and transportation services that lead to lower fatality rates, improved economic competitiveness and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The process of transforming data into real-world solutions is becoming simultaneously more complex as well as more globally integrated and standardized. The best way to keep abreast of these changes is to meet with, listen to and establish contacts embracing leading international experts from the scientific, commercial and operations communities. The Lakeside Conference series of meetings offers just such an opportunity.

What are its objectives?
Since its successful debut in 2008, the Lakeside Conference series of global forums has alternated each year between promoting co-operation between science and business and showcasing applied telematics data solutions that bring practical results in terms of safety, reliability and enhanced services. This year's Lakeside Conference will continue the pattern and its selected theme, Data and Mobility, with its sub-text, Transforming Information  into Intelligent Traffic and Transportation Services, offers a broad menu of topics. These include Data Sources for Intelligent Systems and Services, Improved Data Verification, Liability and Quality, Intelligent Weather Systems for Applications in Traffic and Transport, Intelligent Infrastructure Development and Maintenance, Co-operative Systems, Networks and Platforms and Enhanced User Services.

Who will attend the Lakeside Conference?
Key speakers include high-ranking specialists from technology providers,  universities, research organizations, traffic operators and policy-making bodies. They are expected to be joined in Villach, Carinthia, by more than twice the number of participants who attended the successful First Lakeside Conference in 2008, including scientists,  engineers, infrastructure managers and policy administration officials from across Europe.

How is the event structured?
Both the conference and the accompanying exhibition – itself doubled in size – will be held over two days, Thursday and Friday, at the International Congress Centre in Villach. A special get-to-know-you gathering will be held on Wednesday evening in the Lakeside Science and Technology Park in Klagenfurt. Sessions will consist of keynote speeches, scientific papers and case studies, and presentations of emerging technology and services. In addition, the city of Villach, which is located in Austria's beautiful southern lake region, offers itself as a perfect base for tours and informal networking.
